Duration: 18:01

Amy Compton-Phillips, MD, is executive vice president and chief clinical officer at Providence, a system of more than 50 hospitals and more than 1,000 clinics serving patients across Alaska, California, Montana, New Mexico, Oregon, Texas, and Washington. Providence Health & Services Washington treated the first identified case of COVID-19 in the U.S.

As the West Coast COVID-19 caseload eased, Dr. Compton-Phillips led a virtual offsite for more than 200 leaders from across the Providence system. Team members envisioned a path forward from the immediate response phase through recovery and into a future where Providence can grow toward its vision of health for a better world. In this episode, Dr. Compton-Phillips discusses the system’s future vision, strategies for lessening the health disparities that have been so starkly outlined by the COVID-19 crisis, and the importance of a leadership model based in listening to team members.
